Recently, as the weather warms up, many friends plan to push out the electric cargo bikes that have been parked for a winter. However, many people find that their electric cargo bikes are useless and can not be started. In fact, this is because the electric cargo bike has been parked for a long time and has not been regularly charged, resulting in serious power loss of the battery, resulting in sulfation of the battery plate, which has been damaged.
So, when our electric cargo bikes are not used for a long time, what should be done to prevent the battery from vulcanizing?
Today I will tell you three methods.
1. Disconnect the battery cable
Disconnecting the battery connecting line is the most practical method for ordinary electric cargo bike users. The specific operation method is as follows: the user first opens the electric cargo bike base, finds the battery pack, and then uses a screwdriver to disconnect the connecting line between two small batteries. At this time, the user opens the electric door lock of the electric cargo bike, and the user will find that the electric cargo bike does not have any return voltage.
As long as this operation is completed, even if the electric cargo bike is placed for half a year, the battery will not suffer any power loss and damage. If the user needs to use the electric cargo bike again, the direct connection line can be screwed up to restore normal.
2. Turn off the leakage protector
If the first method may be difficult to operate. Let’s take another look at a very simple method: the user opens the base, finds the leakage protector, and then adjusts it to the off state. At this time, restart the power supply, and you will find that the electric cargo bike is in a no power state. This method is very simple to operate. Although it is not as effective as the first method, it can protect the battery to a certain extent and prevent the battery from vulcanization.
However, in this case, it is generally only applicable to the storage within 1 to 2 months. If it needs to be parked for a longer time, this method may also lose its effect. Because the leakage protector is turned off, the power lock is still in the energized state, and a small amount of self discharge will be generated. Therefore, turning off the leakage protector can only prevent the battery from vulcanizing in a short time.
3. Charge once a week
Finally, let’s look at a more effective method: if the user does not use the electric cargo bike for half a year or even for a long time, he can charge it once every 2 to 3 weeks. If you really have no time, it is better to ensure that it is charged once every month.
Only by ensuring such a charging frequency can the activity of the battery active material be ensured, the service life of the electric cargo bike battery be effectively extended, and the vulcanization risk be reduced.
In short, if the electric cargo bike is not used for a long time, the above three methods can be adopted to prevent battery power loss and vulcanization. For electric cargo bike users, attention must also be paid. Do not wait until the battery is vulcanized to find a solution, because once the battery is vulcanized, there is no better way to restore their electric vehicles to normal, except for replacing a new battery.
Of course, in daily life, when the electric cargo bike is parked for a long time, in addition to protecting the battery to prevent its vulcanization, the anti-theft problem of the vehicle also needs to be attached great importance. It is better to park the electric cargo bike in a shed managed by a specially assigned person, or install an anti-theft locator for the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. When selecting the anti-theft positioner for electric cargo bike, it is also better to select the brand dedicated to electric cargo bike, and the anti-theft performance should be better.
